Carries Dancers Portfolio Session
Dance is a form of expression that transcends words, and capturing the beauty and precision of a dancer’s movements requires a skilled eye and a passion for the art. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the talented dancer Carrie, a student at the Emma Jackson School of Dance and the esteemed Scottish Ballet Associate Program.
My mission was to create a comprehensive portfolio in both full colour and black and white, showcasing Carrie’s extraordinary dance skills and serving as a visual testament to her dedication and artistry. As a professional dance photographer in Ayrshire and Glasgow, I aimed to encapsulate the essence of her skill, strength and elegance
The journey began with a series of meticulously designed headshots and full-length photos that highlighted Carrie’s unique style. These images were carefully curated to provide her with a versatile toolkit for various purposes, including social media profiles and dance school applications.
In the heart of Ayrshire, where the arts thrive, our 2 photography sessions aimed to capture the vibrancy of Carrie’s dance. From dynamic leaps to graceful turns, each shot sought to freeze a moment in time, allowing viewers to feel the rhythm and emotion conveyed through her movements. With our on-location shoot, I mixed things up to showcase ballet in a different light, blending it with a more commercial dance scene to provide Carrie with a youthful set of imagery, alongside the more traditional ballet shots.
With over 10 years of dance photography and as a former Acrobatic Gymnastics Instructor, I understand the importance of creating images that not only reflected Carrie’s technical prowess but also convey the passion and dedication she has invested in the art form.
